The Benefits of Value-Based Living

At the end of 2025, I hosted a virtual values & vision board party. The purpose was to get grounded in our values so that upon doing so, we would be well equipped to lean into visions for our lives, which were based on our values.  It's one thing to randomly develop your vision board, but it's quite another to know your personal why behind it.

It is your personal whys which keep you committed longer to what you initially set out to do, especially once distractions seep in.

A value is that something, often a virtue, which we hold importance and deem worthy and useful. How you live your life, the people you spend time with, the places you go and how you spend your money are all emanations of what you value.

So, when you think of your life, what do you value? Below is a list from beloved Brené Brown.

The benefit of knowing your values is that you are able to live a life that is clearer, more streamlined and less stressful, because you know what you value most. If you value integrity, but a project beckons you which lack integrity, then your inner compass will steer you away from it. If you value honesty, then your mouth will not allow you to utter untruths and you will not create space for or allow people to surround you who are dishonest. And if you value family, you will make decisions around your time based on showing up for your loved ones vs overworking, with less self-inquiry.

So, today, I invite you to spend a little time exploring your values. When you do, your life will be more aligned, and you will spend more time living a purpose-driven life, which often comes with natural peace, clarity and direction.

In gratitude & grace,

Olivia F. Scott
